MY PHOTO STORY:
My name is Vivian, a budding photographer from the city so nice, they named it twice! Columbus Circle born and Uptown Manhattan raised.
I spent 12 years of my life dreaming of becoming a journalist. By the time I hit my junior /senior year upon graduating college I was literally told by the school newspaper editor that maybe photojournalism wasn't for me and felt COMPLETELY worthless to society (I wrote some articles too). Scarred by the remark I learned two things: 1) People can be mean in this life and 2) The only person you should really be judging is yourself.
When I was 18 years old, I met a guy who introduced me to the wonderfully curious world of independent wrestling. Watching the WWF as a kid with a spritely grandmother who would boo the heels and cheer the faces, I was hooked during the Hulkamania era and thought that's all there was to wrestling, the WWF. So I picked up my Canon Rebel XT at the time and started shooting for independent wrestling promotions remembering how much I loved it watching in on TV. I took it as a sign of things to come.
It's an adrenaline rush running around the ring just to get THAT SHOT, THE shot, meeting the big names of wrestling, and making friends along the way. I did that for three years and I'm happy I did because the experience opened an exciting world for me, a world I fell in love with. Photography. Currently I shoot wrestling for its artistic value. My favorite wrestlers are the Undertaker and Jeff Hardy.
Photography is a constant learning process that takes years to perfect. As long as I'm involved in its process, there's nothing in this world that exists for me more than looking at real life through my lens. I'm proud to admit that I have been involved in its process since Spring of 2008.
Take my love of life and my fondness for wrestling, and what you get is my art and my vision of what I feel life is. And this shy little 30 year old wrestling fan/artist/life lover shares her world with you. Enjoy. The internet is a wonderful tool :).
